I think the reviews on this channel are very good. It is a real pleasure to watch them in general and particularly this one.

Ryan · December 15, 2019 at 7:53 pm

Great to see an honest review from a tech channel – not over-hyping smart watches. @MrMobile I'm looking forward to your upcoming smart watch reviews!
… My experience of smart watches has reflected your comments. I tried the Fossil Hybrid HR and Samsung Active 2 and they look good but have software problems that are so annoying that I returned them and bought a Lorus analogue dumb watch instead for 20% of the price of a smart watch.

superkid542 · December 15, 2019 at 8:11 pm

I was literally gonna buy the Carlyle on 219 but then I said let's watch a review video first. Thank God cuz now I got it for 165!!!! 😆😆😆😆

WanderingShyGuy · December 15, 2019 at 8:25 pm

Still waiting for the Faster 3! Only smartwatch design I've ever liked as a small wrister.

Isaac Minjares · December 15, 2019 at 8:36 pm

I thought my watch was just bugging but I guess others are having problems with the notifications not appearing as well

Isaac Palmer · December 15, 2019 at 9:55 pm

Looking forward to your MacBook Pro 16" review!

Leland G. · December 15, 2019 at 10:04 pm

I've gone back to having a smartwatch with a Xiaomi Mi Band 4. Hardware is very anemic, but you know what? Its lack of complications makes it wonderful. It's more like a watch that just happens to track my steps, sleep and shows notifications. I thought I would want a watch that does more like NFC payments, WiFi, smart assistants, music playback, GPS… The best two things about it that I love above all else would be the battery life(3 weeks on a single charge), and the price($40!). It's enough, for me, at least.

NethLuc · December 15, 2019 at 10:26 pm

Samsung Tizen OS for smartwatchs is better in my opinion

yuvaraj putin · December 15, 2019 at 11:00 pm

Bought Apple Watch Series 5 Ceramic Edition for £1600, And it does live up to its expectations.
Best Smart Watch Ever!

Hubert Rueede · December 16, 2019 at 12:12 am

Great design's – weak management power

Major Skies · December 16, 2019 at 12:14 am

I have a Fossil Gen 5 and love the hardware. Just wish the health tracking was better with battery life.

Major Skies · December 16, 2019 at 12:15 am

We sell the new MK and Fossil watched in my shop.

Gerard Patrice · December 16, 2019 at 1:03 am

Google needs a proper watch in the pixel line and it needs it fast. A actual similar design like apple watch in the same detail.

Marek Brida · December 16, 2019 at 1:40 am

Wear os is terrible, that's why I switched to Samsung galaxy watch and couldn't be happier.

Rushikesh Tade · December 16, 2019 at 2:17 am

Tizen fan here

FastLikeUNO · December 16, 2019 at 3:24 am

Yea wear OS has been around long enough, it can't make excuses. So at this point we have:
Fitbit (while that lasts)
Apple Watch
Samsung Galaxy Active

TechImaginist [Vijay Malayil] · December 16, 2019 at 3:32 am

Probably why Samsung stuck with their Tizen.

kinetic stop motion studio · December 16, 2019 at 4:32 am

The 'r' in 'fossil' stands for reliability…

Aayush Saini · December 16, 2019 at 5:46 am

Better get tizen os watch

Artiom Frizen · December 16, 2019 at 7:10 am

That moment …. when your pebble 2 is more than 3 years and its still better than all of these watches xD

Cookie Wookie · December 16, 2019 at 7:29 am

I have a wear os watch and haven't had any problems 🤔

Saptaswa Charan Rakshit · December 16, 2019 at 7:59 am

how about a comparison with WearOS and Tizen OS.

Kailash Harsha · December 16, 2019 at 9:15 am

I'll stick to my Tag Heuer analog.

Hans Bakema · December 16, 2019 at 9:23 am

So…. I still have a 2015 Huawei watch (the first one). It still gets Wear updates and from what I see in this video, it actually runs the software better (no weird bugs) and smoother (no lag when scrolling) than these 2019 watches do….. it still has 2-day battery life (which seems about the same as these new watches) and…. it has the thinnest bezels from any smartwatch I have seen so far. How can these new ones have a thick black band around the display when the screen of my nearly 5 year old watch truly goes edge to edge? It seems they have gotten worse instead of better…… I still think the Huawei watch looks better, too. It's design truly was ahead of it's time it seems….

Ty coon · December 16, 2019 at 9:40 am

one word, google assistant, nuff said

James Jackson · December 16, 2019 at 9:58 am

Hell, I'm still using my zenwatch from 2013, never an issue.

Google's losing its focus. I'm even looking for Chrome replacement

Liam Reihwald · December 16, 2019 at 12:06 pm

Don't forget Skagen watches. The are also part of the Fossil group and are really beautifull

greg harvey · December 16, 2019 at 12:34 pm

TOTALLY agree – WearOS is the worst! Google should be ashamed of itself for such softwear.

Dini Ayu · December 16, 2019 at 12:42 pm

this reviews making me laugh 😂 my fave: “well, don’t..!” Lol 🤣 subscribed!

Dex4Sure · December 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm

Samsung trolled Google hard with Tizen. Tizen OS is far better on smartwatches than Wear OS… This shows just how much of a tragedy it is that Android is the dominant mobile OS. Its not good, but its simply dominant which is why everyone uses it.

The313dash · December 16, 2019 at 3:53 pm

So true! Wear OS is lacking period. I've owned two watches I was to like them but I can't. There just slow and not responsive.

Andrew Popdžek · December 16, 2019 at 4:37 pm

make review of Kronaby

Bruno Wallner · December 16, 2019 at 4:40 pm

In my opinion Google's wear os ist the best, because of the app support and ADB

Tom Waznis · December 16, 2019 at 5:13 pm

I find Wear os slow besides being buggy. The Samsung os is much better.

mrfld · December 16, 2019 at 6:18 pm

Long time apple hater here: I did the android / fossil watch thing for a while.

Notifications stopped coming through.
Bugs that would cause the need for factory reset.
Apps designed for the watch not working.
Texts sent from watch not delivering.

Recently switched to an iPhone. Ordered a watch because the OS feels so much more stable. Maybe the high price point means things actually work. We'll see.

Nam3less · December 16, 2019 at 6:29 pm

Wear OS fucking sucks (I own 2 watches). It is pretty sad when the watch works better with iOS than Android.

Ewan Prosser · December 16, 2019 at 7:15 pm

What are your thoughts on the tagheur connect watch? Its quite a pricey piece but ive been curious about it

Sharan Srivatsa · December 16, 2019 at 7:59 pm

Own a Fossil Gen 5 sice the day it launched.
I have not faced a single thing that is mentioned in this video.

Shiet Saddick · December 16, 2019 at 10:18 pm

Got the 2nd moto360. Cool. Bad screen. Still functioning but I shelved it for a traditional digital watch that is cheap and low maintainance

Keyser Soze · December 16, 2019 at 10:52 pm

I have both a 46mm Galaxy Watch ($269) and a Fossil Gen5 Carlyle ($169). I use my smartwatch to listen to music and audio books on the bluetooth Galaxy Buds headphones while I practice hitting balls on the golf range. This is extremely useful and convenient because I no longer have to put up with the annoying heavy smartphone swinging around inside the pocket of my shorts during my golf swings. Anyone else here use their smartwatch instead of smartphone for music while doing outdoor activities?

First Last · December 16, 2019 at 11:20 pm

Just a friendly heads up, blurring text with a soft gaussian blur while moving like you did on 1:26 makes it very easy to figure out what the original picture used to look like. In these circumstances a solid color works much better.

RandyB · December 17, 2019 at 9:50 am

Where is the video knocking Samsung Tizen? That OS is so frustrating drives me crazy. Love the widgets, and guess what Wear has them too. That was Tizenś main advantage for a while.

Carmody Little · December 17, 2019 at 5:52 pm

My explorist had an update and I took advantage of the battery saving types. Then another update came through and took those options away. This makes no sense 😩

bobby4500 · December 17, 2019 at 5:56 pm

Wear OS sucks just like Android. And make no mistake about it: after the Huawei ban, nobody (outside USA) will use american OS anymore. Chinese watchmakers use their own OS.

Chemy Torres · December 17, 2019 at 6:07 pm

How much for that scratched? Lol!

Swayam Deep Dash · December 17, 2019 at 7:24 pm

Google are only going to start taking Wear OS seriously once they come in with their own Pixel Watch. I guess keeping Wear OS bugged down is intentional as they want to totally capture the Android Wearable market, which is in a muddle right now and the best options are the Tizen sporting Galaxy Watches.

colorless_man · December 17, 2019 at 7:37 pm

watches are not smart, CAPITALISM IS.

DimusTech · December 17, 2019 at 9:16 pm

I've got my Fossil Gen 5 on Black Friday deal (with a few other coupons)
So far, I love it! at start it was indeed a nightmare! but it gotten good and I created my own watch face via an app called watchmaker. now waiting for some wrist bands I ordered online.

John Lafitte · December 17, 2019 at 9:50 pm

I really like the looks for the Carlyle, but not the smoked stainless so much. Wanted more of a lustrous polished finished, but I can't see where they sell one. Is the one you show in the video the smoked SS? It doesn't look quite as dull as the Fossil photos look like it is.

Ace · December 18, 2019 at 4:08 am

Google discontinues products and programs like no one else. They keep crap and don’t develop good ones

Chris Arnold · December 18, 2019 at 6:42 am

Fossil still using crappy crystals? I scratched one 15 years ago after a few days wear.

Kim T · December 18, 2019 at 7:41 am

Google spread themselves too thin so everything is half ass at best

Harrison French · December 18, 2019 at 11:33 am

I don’t like popping out these fiddley pins to adjust the size.

Oh so like any other non strap watch then?

Mikayel Միքայել · December 18, 2019 at 4:42 pm

If you have an Android get a Galaxy Watch period
there are 3 main options
1st the budget active: with a sleek bezel-less design and it can measure blood pressure but no LTE or a speaker
2nd active 2: ECG, blood pressure, smooth new UI, LTE, stainless steal, sleek bezel-less design and a virtual bezel (available in two sizes and 3 variants: aluminium, stainless steal and a sports addition) I guess you can call active 2 the "Apple Watch" for Android phones (for a much better price)
3rd the OG galaxy watch it has everything that active 2 has except ECG and blood pressure meter but in return you get a classic look and a more premium look and feel with a real rotating bezel which you get addicted on like crack ( available in two sizes and all are stainless steal)

ONLY thing I would say that WearOS has over Tizen is google maps but that's it
Bixby has been updated and now it is almost as good as Google assistant and the voice is not robotic anymore and sound natural and fluid

Eniola Folorunso · December 18, 2019 at 5:30 pm

Jon P Ybanez · December 19, 2019 at 3:19 am

if the hardware is likable but the software isn't, why not review the new Fossil Hybrid HR?

lefthandedpolack · December 19, 2019 at 5:35 am

i asked for a galaxy watch active for xmas instead of another andoid dead battery wear.

Sandeep Raghuraman · December 19, 2019 at 9:28 am

Well actually, it's mostly Qualcomm's fault – they're still pushing a 7 year old CPU, with bad performance and bad power efficiency – while Samsung and Apple are using newer, better performance and more power efficient CPUs on their smartwatches.

Then there's the OEMs who as usual bundle bloatware on their watches, as well as disable CPU cores which results in further bad performance. And they also heavily delay OS updates which would considerably improve the situation,

Then there's Google, who should've curbed background app CPU use several years ago, but still hasn't bothered to do so even on normal Android on phones and tablets.

Irfan Shaikh · December 19, 2019 at 1:10 pm

Software is where apple watch shines even though i would like a round faced apple watch… I have the 3rd gen apple watch is still working fine and still receives updates.

That fossil back popping off problem that 'they will take care of' will cost you to fix. Yup they charge for it, It is not included in their warranty repair list. Go online and see for yourself.

Secondly it is not a problem of the software as so much it is with electronics hardware. They have been using the same processor and platform for nearly 5 years with no known update in site.

Google just hasn't figured out what they want to do with wearables.

I got the Juliana HR Gen 5 for 220$ this holidays. It is my first smart watch and I love it. I use a 007 N64 style watch face I've got loaded with relative data, I have to sync about once every few days, but other than that it runs fine and smooth. Sure it took a hour to setup the FIRST AND ONLY TIME so I dont find this an issue. I enjoy sitting down to experience a new gadget so thats me. The Juliana HR is fucking sexy bold and looks perfect with the 007 watch face, I did not hesitate.

Really a shame, when moto 360 came out it was the best-looking watch, not only smartwatch, on the market and as far as I can tell, first gen wears os was fine for what it was. Not to mention they were the first to get it out before even Apple watch, I love Apple watch, just isn't prepared to get on a iPhone for every day. Google bluetooth problem is a major one, aside from android, which is already not the best but ok and reliable, chrome OS is just straight out unreliable to unusable, even the new blue stack beta new bluetooth for Chrome OS isn't reliable that much or much better. And have been forever in Beta mode.
